The music group exists to explore and promote the musical ideas of its members. There are a number of active songwriters and there is a constant development of new ideas and songs. Musical performances are rehearsed and take place about once every 3 months (the name of the performing band for this group is INDIGO.) The performances are a platform for expression of new songs to a wider audience – also covers are performed of other artists material.

There are benefits  of a musical and social nature.to participating in the music group for members; group participation skills are developed, confidence building, achievement through rehearsals and live performances help boost the self esteem of members enormously.

We always welcome new members regardless of level or musical ability. Although encouraged it is not compulsory to take part in live performances!

Some members of the music group are involved in their own projects, individually and with others elsewhere. We try and incorporate dance etc to enhance the visual aspect to our live performances

Comments of a member of the music group

Indigo is a music group, which at this moment consists of guitars, violin, keyboard and percussion. We have several vocalists, who also write their own material. I have attended this group since it first started and as one of the lead singers, I have a lot of input into the group. We perform at the centre and this music covers all types and some experimental pieces. This includes jazz, blues and pop over the last 50 years and some rock, soul and reggae etc M.G.
