ASSERTIVENESS TRAINING

This course  usually runs 3 or 4  times each year.

The training involves participants attending 1 session every week on a Thursday morning (10:30-12:00am) at the Crayford Centre over a 6-7 week period.

The aim of the course is to:

Explain the role, usefulness and application of assertion skills in everyday life.

Provide/suggest coping techniques/strategies for dealing with difficult people and/or challenging situations encountered on a daily basis in respectful and effective manner.

Promote self-esteem, self-confidence and self-belief through the exercise and practise of assertive rights.

A certificate is awarded to members who successfully complete the course.

Types of Behaviour- Aggressive, Passive, Manipulate, Assertive Rights and Assertiveness.

How to be more Assertive, Refusing Requests/Saying No and Assertion Skills

Asking for Time, Body Language and Broken Record

Making Reasonable requests, Dealing with Criticism

Handling "Crumple Button" Criticisms, Compassion Trap, Giving Constructive Criticism

Giving and Receiving Compliments, Disarming Anger, Power
